1. The House voted on June 28, 2012 to hold Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for failure to cooperate with the investigation into the Fast and Furious gunrunning scandal. It is the first time Congress has taken such action against a sitting cabinet official.
2. Holder condemned the House as “politically motivated” and “misguided,” but the Department of Justice under his leadership has become a vehicle to target political opposition. That is demonstrated by Eric Holder’s lawsuit against the state of Texas’ Voter ID law–designed to prevent voter fraud! .
3. Eric Holder has threatened freedom of the press by targeting months worth of journalists’ office, mobile, and home phone records in addition personal emails. Undermining the first amendment this way is an assault on core liberties that Americans hold dear.
4. When Congress discovered that conservatives and Tea Party groups had been the victims of IRS targeting, Eric Holder and the Department of Justice declined to prosecute this abuse–despite a top IRS official going so far as to invoke the 5th Amendment during a Congressional oversight hearing.
